Westgate Literary Festival 2019 Short Story Competitions now open!

WestgateLit is pleased to confirm that all of the short story competitions are now open and accepting entries via our Competitions page.

The Westgate Literary Festival is running competitions with two themes. One is “Westgate-on-Sea”. This competition has five age categories; 5-7 year old New Writers, 8-11 year old Young Writers, 12-14 New Teen Writers, 15-17 Late Teen Writers, and the Adult 18+ age category. Competition rules and further details are found on the Westgate Literary Festival 2019 Short Story Competition page. Competition winners and those shortlisted will be published in the Westgate Literary Festival 2019 Short Story Anthology, and a cash prize for the 18+ category. Under 18 writers enter for free!

There is also The Dee May Award for Fiction, a special award is aimed at writers over the age of 65. Entries should be no more than 5,000 words and focus on the concept of aging. Entries cost £10 with a first prize of £100 and runner up prizes for second and third place. An extra prize for the judges’ highly commended will also be awarded. All submissions in all categories need to have been uploaded and an entry fee paid (18+ only) per submission by midnight UK local time 31st July 2019.
