Short Story Competitions

The Westgate Literary Festival 2019 Short Story Writing competitions are now open for submissions.

There are five main classes for the competition this year broken down by age groups (New Writers aged 5-7, Young Writers aged 8-11, New Teen Writers aged 12-14 , Late Teen Writers aged 15-17, and Adults Aged 18+). The main Westgate Literary Festival Short Story Competition theme is “Westgate-on-Sea” – your story must be somehow connected to the theme. There is also a special award for writers over 65 years of age.

There is also a special award for writers over 65 years of age. The Dee May Award for Fiction is a short story competition for writers over the age of 65 with the theme being “The Concept of Aging”. All submissions must be received by midnight on the 8th September 2019!
